Glorious Local Talent
Wow what a week it’s been. I had the pleasure of hosting an open mic night on Thursday last in Mckenna’s Bar, Monaghan. Shamie and his staff run this landmark bar/ venue wonderfully and it’s no surprise that its revered far and wide as one of the best bars in Ireland. A special word of thanks to Brian and Kasper for helping with the sound. I was blown away by the talented performers and I look forward to returning in January to host another Open-Mic Night.
Teachers Night Out
On Friday we had the pleasure of entertaining the staff of Beech Hill College in the Westenra Hotel, Monaghan and followed the night with a DJ set. The function room is such a lovely setting, and it makes the climb up the backstairs all the more gratifying when you open up those doors to the stage.
Give yourselves a Round Of A’Paw’s
Thank you for the title on this segment Mark. Saturday was our long awaited fundraising Day for ‘Carrick Dog Shelter’ in what we called ‘Belter For The Shelter’. I arrived at 8,30 am to set up for our 8 hour busk-a-thon. I played from 9 – 12, 30 and then my good friend Niall Reilly played for an hour. This was then followed by Rory O Connor who came the whole way from Balbriggan and he played for another hour. This performance was then followed by Kyle Martin who made his way down form Monasterboice to perform for another hour. Not forgetting Mark, Sean, Sarah, Ciara & Noah who were collecting with the buckets. A huge thanks to all the staff and management of O’Gorman’s SuperValu, our team and all the people who donated to this great cause. The total raised was €2570 and there are sill donations flooding in so, this figure will rise in the coming days but, I will keep you posted.
